Yatzee captured while the dices were still rolling or in the air.
This took over 500 (five hundred) shots, 2 day's shooting with more than 100 throws. The camera was set to 5 frames per second (= over 5x100) and only a few were worth it to save (hence the file number). The aim was to capture a mid-air carré, with any number, not necessarily the number four. That I captured a Yatzee with fours is a great bonus.
Exposure was difficult, sunlight from the windows, a table lamp a few inches above, several reflectors (I didn't have more power available). ISO set to 400 and aperture to 2.8 to get a shutter of 1/200 to 1/250 (manual exposure, manual focus). A slower shutter blurs to much and a faster (1/500-1/1000 in ISO1600 freezes to much. I wanted to save some motion blur. Camera was on a tripod.
Cropped a 35% portion out of it, autolevels, more saturation to get better green, unsharp mask, save for the web.
The white stuff on the green are parts from the dices. :-) |

Really and truly it is not a yatzee. All the 4s are not on the top. I do play yatzee and kissmet. Love both games. I do like the arrangement of the dice on the felt background and the crop. What I want to know is how many rolls did it take to get this and what did the one in the air land on? You sure had to have the luck of the irish to get this roll. Looks like the middle 3 might have stayed with the 4 showing when they stopped, but did the first and last. You lucked out. I should give you a 10 for the roll but I can't be THAT nice. So here's an 8. PTL |

too bad you didn't have enough light or a faster shutter speed to get the dice in focus--9 |

It really makes me wonder... Are most of those dice frozen in place (ie: glue) or are you incredibly patient when it comes to getting the perfect photo. |

If the apparent movement is real, then just wondering how many times you had to try until you got this one. Very creative. 9 |
