Greetings from the Critique Club!

First impression: Basically a good shot but just needs that extra level of pop to make it stand out more.

Artistic: The blue shirt sets off your eyes nicely, and the catchlights are great. But your closed mouth looks almost clamped shut - I know I do it too, I have to consciously relax my jaw so I don't get that tight look. You look like you want to smile but just don't quite want to. If you're self-conscious about your teeth, you can always just part your lips and blow out through your mouth. I realize too that you may well have been going 'Hmmm' too, but you can do it through a softer mouth.

Technical: Comp is nice, I like that your upper body is angled and a little oof. The 3/4 profile is quite flattering. Looks like you chose to go the studio route; lighting looks fine. Few minor near-glarey areas but nothing horrendous, and the camera settings are fine for this sort of shot. I might suggest a tighter crop at the top and too the left, not too extreme but just a little bit more. Perhaps a little more of an environmental feel is what was needed here, this looks a little on the stock side.

Overall: Nice shot, if you feel like it try and reshoot with the suggestions I gave you and see how it pans out. Keep shooting and entering!

Feel free to PM me,

Susan
