my husband and I (both DPC members) are interested in attending. We are locals so add us to the list please.

I am seriously considering coming down from the "cold" Canadian July temperatures and joining in the festivities. Air fare is quite reasonable out of Buffalo. Put me on the possibilities listing and I will confirm in the next week or so.

Cheers.

Well, now there's an idea!
I could upgrade to a 20D and "let" my hubby have the Rebel!
(Unfortunately, it's not his passion.....oh, well!)

This made me laugh, because, that is actually how it happened! I kept telling him I needed to have a backup, and that when shooting weddings and stuff I needed two cameras!

This group would be tough to pass up, so I'm gonna try to be there. I can either fly into Baltimore (in which case I'll need an airport ferry) or drive down. If I drive, it would make sense to carpool with JPR, TLL061 and/or Shutterfly for company.

As a reminder- if you need floor space to crash please, please , please make sure to mention that in your post.

Locals- if you are going to be here for all or part of the weekend, chime in. I need to get an idea of headcount so I can get the logistics worked out this week. :)

I mentioned it to the boss tonight and she wasn't sure, so we'll see. I am pretty certain that I am going to make the trek.

I'll be looking for a "reasonably" priced hotel.
I've been to DC before (even recently), so I know where the monuments, zoo, and the like are.
Could someone give me an idea of where the other center of activity might be? I'd like to find something near or between where people will be staying and where we'll be going.
I do drive a mini-van, so coordinated transportation (when public is not the best choice) will be possible. In other words, I could take on riders.
I have an interest in seeing the gardens north of the city--I visited two one summer and seem to recall lovely lotus blossoms at one and wonderful lilypads in a Koi pond at the other. With such a large group over several days, perhaps we could consider various venues?

Okay- show of hands I need a list of people needing hotel space by Saturday. I need to figure out if I need to get a block of rooms for us or not.

I think the one with the lily pond (and at the time, cool sculptures of bugs a billion times life size...2 years ago?) was the "National Gardens"?? The other, with the lotus....and mostly, just lotus, was maybe a national park.......a really small national park, slightly north of the gardens?
(I'll try to find a reference on the web.)
