All I can say is that Iceland has got to be one of the most photogenic places on earth! I must visit one day for a long long stay to take as many photos as possible. That and there are some damn fine photographers that are "grown" there. Must be all that midnight sun in the summer and extensive night in the winter! LOL. Anyway this is an extremely creative and wonderfully executed image! Well done and congrats on winning the yellow ribbon! |

Truly an amazing scene. It's not too difficult to shoot fireworks so in order to get a ribbon with this challenge, the shot had to be so much more on many levels. Your incorporation with the Northern Lights really is amazing. Compositionwise, it's nearly perfect but it has so much more great stuff I won't even complain about the cut off on the top. And the colors...could there have been a better combination than orange and green? I don't think so.
Thanks for being so dedicated in order to bring us this awesome visual treat. |

Beautiful shot. I cant help but ask if that small brownish thing directly under the firework as it goes straight up (under the vertical streak) is the person setting it off?
Congratulations on the ribbon

Quite stunning. The bit of luck getting the lights to frame the firework explosion, combined with the effort you put in to be there in the first place really paid off in a big way. |

Much better, IMO, than the first place winner which was simply a rather dull photo of city fireworks. |

Blah! How come this didn´t win! Sorry Firsty but while your pic is a good ordinary fireworks shot it doesn´t come close to this and while I love Robert´s shot, this one is better. Oh well, at least you got a ribbon :)
Oh and honored people thought it were mine but no way I woud go through this trouble for a photograph on newyears eve, I am a family man and spent it with mine :)
Congrat´s! |

Whilst this looks as though it would have been a technically difficult photo to create, it doesn't really work for me. Perhaps it is two in-camera shots? I am not sure but it has an unreal nature to it. |

Well I guess this is taken in Iceland. All I can say is one of the most original and refreshing fireworks shot I have ever seen, instant 10 and a fave. I personally would have darkened the sky though to draw the aurora out more but that´s just nitpicking.
Wish I had taken this and hope you win! |

Nice.
It's a shame that the top of the firework's starburst is clipped off at the top. but apart from that it's well composed. Love the whisp of green smoke, and the way the stars are still visible. |
