Tangledby DenielleComment: This is nice, but feels like it could be a bit darker and moodier. btw, "macro" on the 70-300 isn't "true macro" (macro being that the image on the sensor, film, etc. is the same size as the real object or larger) but instead is about 1/2 macro. Not a criticism, just an observation. Sorry, I'm a little anal when it comes to terminology :) I noticed a macro lens on your wish list, may I recommend the Canon 100mm f/2.8? It gets excellent reviews and isn't ridiculously expensive. |

Serenityby DenielleComment: I don't think I agree with the "false color" claim, nor do I see any concern with losing detail because that's not important in this image, but it DOES seem a bit heavy on the right. I like it otherwise, and it does seem peaceful. |

Old Flames by John Lawtonby lukepeterComment: while recognizing the difficulties of controlling DOF in extreme macro, IMHO the flame should have been in sharper focus considering that it is (presumably) the main subject of your image. You did, however, do very well at not letting the "kernel" of the flame blow-out as a highlight. |

The Enchanted Forest: A Scottish Fairytale by MargaretNetComment: Simple, peaceful, and lovely. Thank you for giving this in my busy life. The way the nearest canopies are above the frame gives the impression of a cathedral ceiling that towers beyond the limit of sight, and the highlights on the trunks and flowering bush give a convincing feeling of depth in contrast to the darker areas beyond. |

Between River and Barrowby vladoComment: Good use of the available light, yet my ignorance precludes my appreciation :( between river and barrow is . . . a pump? what? And, though I might misunderstand therefore misjudge, the water is a bit TOO smooth, the exposure probably a bit too long. Had a somewhat shorter exposure been applied, there would have been a solid suggestion of motion in the water by showing the shape of the splashes instead of letting them smear away into time. A long exposure of a stream has the effect of removing the element of rushing water, turning the stream into a shapeless mist. |

Blurry and Disconnected: Tales of Sink-Or-Swim Nihilism by bspurgeonComment: Wow. the trees look like smokestacks for some bizzarre underground factory complex. Excellent job of turning something that is normally an inconvenience into an assett, the day must have been quite windy! In normal circumstances, I would be upset with the result, but as far as the subject goes this is disturbingly appropriate and I love the juxtoposition between the empty yet well-organized pool deck, the "stacks," and the rugged mountains. |

The Universe Belowby SunnyHillsCirComment: Inspiring curiosity in those who haven't read it (such as myself) is, I believe, just as effective as crystallizing the concept for those who have. |
