Tropical Commuteby myqylComment: The angle is interesting. My problem with this shot is that the train seems to be the subject. Technically it wasn't a staged shot, but I'm not sure how well it actually fits "candid" either. ~indigo997 |

Mommy, watch me!!by MarkRobComment: I tend to like shots that really have a primary subject in sharp focus and no distracting elements. Environmental portraits can be good at times (there are some very good ones in this challenge), but I think it's usually good not to include too much of the surroundings because they just distract. I'm sure that you didn't have much time to take this, and that's a big problem with candids. In order to make it score high with me you would need a different angle (to the left and down lower would work) & exclude those guys in the background. There are just too many distracting elements in the bg like that tree right over his head. Also, the focus is a bit too soft. As a snapshot it's good, but there's some stiff competition here so the technical aspects are really important :o) ~indigo997 |

Spriteby FrooberComment: I love the sepia tone and gradation in the sand and water. I'd rather see a little more of the girl. There's too much detail to be a true silhouette so it'd be great to see her expression. 7 ~indigo997 |

Disagreementby stephanComment: Center placement of subject works here. Nice mood. The coloring is cool. Good exposure. Great capture. 8 ~indigo997 |

Memories of summers pastby tomlewis1980Comment: Wow, what a big kid *wink* I like the angle you chose. Being able to see the wood chips is cool. Not crazy about the crop. I think you should have tried gettin the whole swing set in the shot. Swinging just isn't as much fun when you grow up, is it? The swing competition is tough in this particular challenge. Good Luck! ~indigo997 |
