The Pelican Codeby DeniseComment: This photo conveys the pelican, but not the code. You'd have to get pretty creative to convey the code idea, to give it a sense of mystery. |

Kafka on the Shoreby TiberiusComment: As someone who hasn't read this book, I had no idea what a cat paw has to do with the title. I think with a challenge like this, the title and the photo need to connect for those who haven't read the book. If it also connects for those who have read the book, so much the better. |

A Boy and His Dog (Harlan Ellison)by mefnjComment: This isn't bad, but the white is a bit distracting. Considering the book, I'd have liked a darker image, with some sense of decay to hint at the post-apocalyptic nature of the story. |

fataleby bvyComment: I think this photo would've worked well if there were an actual woman instead of a picture of one. |

Born Digital: Understanding the First Generation of Digital Nativesby hahn23Comment: With this photo, I didn't feel the message was being completely portrayed. It is a shot of children, which speaks to "the First Generation" but nothing speaks to them being "Digital Natives". A bunch of kids playing with laptops/ipads/iPhones would've been a bit more on target, I think. |

I, Robotby GeneralEComment: I think the subject of this photo could've worked, but the composition didn't work for me, nor did the blurriness or grain. I think with a shot like this, you might try it with a tripod and ISO of 100. A less distracting background would've helped too. Everything in the photo should serve to draw attention to the robot, the title is, afterall "I robot". |

Red Hot Lipstick (by Jeremy Reed)by AllenPComment: Very stunning photo. Love the eyes, lips and hair. The only thing that was a bit distracting (only after looking at the photo for a prolonged time) were the tiny hairs on the nose. |

The Invisible Man - H.G. Wellsby Alex_PetriniComment: Loved this picture, the only thing I'd have done differently is position the glasses a bit higher, because they look like they'd be about upper-lip level on a real person, so it breaks the illusion somewhat that they aren't where the viewer would expect them to be. |
