Natural Madness by frumoazniculComment: [Critique Club]
Although I am not sure exactly what this object is, it appears to be the roots of a tree or bush. The more solid masses on the left, top, and right side combine to form an arched shape framing the sparser, more finely divided branches in the center and creating a nice composition.
To me, the shapes and colors of the image convey a somewhat somber feeling, which could have been enhanced with a slightly darker background. The brightness of the background is a bit over exposed and causes the finer root structures in the center of the photo to loose definition. The dark shadowed areas at the top and the variations of light striking the roots provide a nice range of tones. I think this image was a good choice for conversion to sepiaĆ¢a technique much overused on this site and one I normally do not like. However, in this particular photo it seems to complement the subject nicely. Although, I still wonder how the photo looked in its original colors.
Overall, this is a very good photo that does a superb job of meeting the difficult criteria for the Chaos challenge. I offer you my congratulations for winning the blue ribbon. It was well deserved.
Regards,
Mick

Might of 15000 pound beast!!!by theodor38Comment: Great action shot! The composition would have been better if the flying man weren't so close to the edge of the image, but it's a great shot anyway. Good job! I think a 9 from me. |

Knowledgeby David.CComment: Knowledge is power. Good idea to use the black shirt (blouse, top??), as it gives the photo a better range of tones. Good job! A 10 from me. |

Sunday Sunrise by UNCLEBROComment: Beautiful photo! That's a very interesting effect in the foreground. How did you do it? I'll guess and say rocks on wet sand, with NeatImage or Photoshop to remove the texture. A 10 from me. Good luck! |

Eye of the Stormby BobsterLobsterComment: Terrific photo! Doesn't hit the challenge criteria nail on the head for me, but I like it very much. I'll give it an 8. |
