Intimacyby JinjitComment: Greetings From the Gritique Club!!!
Initial Impact: ooh a flower...
Lighting: The lighting on this one is simple yet well done. You have no distracting shadows and you don't look to have any blown out highlights.
Color: The browns are very rich and enjoyable. I Especialy like the way the green fades out and slowley disapears from the center in a smooth transition.
Focus: Very crisp image with a nice DOF. I enjoy the details that you captured on the pistle and the granual pollen that has fallen off to the sides.
Composition: I am happy with the composition of the image. Every thing looks to be proportional. However due to the stagering number of macro flowers I would suggest shooting this fro somthing other than a head on angle. Try shooting it from the side a bit or perhaps using dry ice to produce some smoke on the interior.
Overall: other that the fact that the shot is a very common one this is a very nice shot. I feel that any flower shot would hae trouble getting a high placing without havingsomthing special to help it stand out fronm the crowd. But as is it looks like your stock "not to be mistaken with bad" photo. I feel that this is a good image but lacked the wow! factor required to bring this up with the higher rating shots.

Margaritavilleby instepsComment: wow now that's some crip granuals. Unfortunatly beyond that the imagehas little appeal to me. The green does not look enticing ther are not many lines or anything else for the eye to enjoy. You have one big POW!! then nothing. Good image that lacks long term appeal IMO. But technicaly a very nice shot. |

Salt Of The Universeby PoobaComment: Bumbing this one up just because I like the colors and textures on this one. I have always found the nautalus shape to be very pleasing and I feel that you have managed to realy enhance this with the composition you used. Very nice!! |

Digital Timerby cabaComment: Wonderfull textures and shadows on the metal surfaces. I live the crisp details that you managed to capture. I do however feel that the image is just a little bit too dark. But it could just be my crappy work monitor. This fits the challenge well and is a pleasant image to look at. Very well done 7 |

Lunar bath saltsby smilebig4me1xComment: wow great color and interesting idea. I feel that the vibrant colors and the dark background work very well with eachother. I must admit however that while I fully recognize what I am looking at I have no idea whatsoever of its signifigance or symbology. I get a feeling that there is somthing to this shot that I am missing. Overall very nice shot that ios pleasant to look at. 7 |

Sprinkledby bongoComment: Very clean and crisp image. I think it could have benifited from a bit of back lighting tomake the lemon pop a little more, and to bring the glass out a bit as well. This fits the challenge and the most noticable aspect of the photo is the granuals of salt. I also feel that the green liquid is a bit disturbing it looks to have a slimy texture to it. Over all this is a pretty nice shot that the do fairly well. Nice job. |

Apple Juiceby xonkasComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!!!
Initial imapact: Yummy crunchy apple.....
Color: Wonderfull colors. You have captured the colors of the apple perfectly. It has a very crisp and cold texture and look to it. Initialy I didn't like the green straw but after a few seconds it seemd apropriate. Giving it a somewhat stem like appearance.
Focus: Very crisp ans well defined focus. I love the way the DOF fades hust the slightest amount on the top of the apple slightly bluring the back of the apple. Thsi adds a lot to the texture and pepth of the photo. Great job in this catagory.
Lighting: This is where I feel this shot is lacking a little bit. I think this would have been a lot more powerfull image if it had been lit in a manner to eliminate shaddow. I never ahve been fond of shadows on a white background. More persomal tastle the technical I would imaging.
Meeting the challenge: Theres and apple... can't realy go wrong there.
Composition: The crack? on the table in the apples shadow and the spot next to the stem are both very distracting and un apealling to the image. I would like to see them remioved. Beyond that and the shadow I realy have zero complaints.
Conclusion: This is a very strong and well composed image. I feel that the technical flaws in this phot are very small and easily fixed. This is a photo that no one would be ashamed to have in there portfolio. Very nice job keep up the great work.

Life motesby manuraoComment: Great color and wonderfull lines. You did an amazing job capturing the pollen on this shot. At first glance I though it was a motion capture of the pollen flying off of the pistle. A little disapointed it wasn't. Stilll a very nice image that is fun to look at. |

Where God Lost His Marblesby SimonjwComment: Ok this one made me laugh. Thsi image has a strong Ansel feel to it IMO. You have an amazing amount of detail and a DOF that goes on forever leaving the rock in the foreground and the mountains in the distance all in perfect focus. Very good composition in a high contrast image. I do feel however that as for is fitting the challenge it is a little to far outside of the box. For granular I would expect macro photography showing of the fine details of a granular substance. The sand and the marbles are granular but you did not realy capture the granular surface well enough to make it the center of intrest. But due to the fact that it is so well done and that is is close to the challenge topic. I wouldn't feel right giving this less than an 8. Very nice job!! |
