The blackmith's apprencticeby Yo_SpiffComment: I like the 2010 entry crops. The subject brings interest in this as well, but that light in the background sure draws my attention away. |

All aboard!by Yo_SpiffComment: I agree with agrimace. I think an antique or sepia or something old time process would really bring this home. |

11 - Painterby hajekaComment: Nice lines. Outside of the painter, the first thing that drew my attention was the twists in the balcony railing. It really creates an interesting effect for my eyes. |

The Endby NeilComment: I don't take it quite the way Yo_Spiff does. I do get that it's the end of his life, but I don't necessarily see sadness. What's sad about getting to live the length of life that this man has been able to live. We all grow older. We all die. Longevity is all we can ask for. This man has achieved that.
I also think the fishey works well here. It pulls you into his soul a bit and makes him stand out from the background.
Obviously a powerful shot that's getting a lot of reaction and analysis. Well done. |

lady by the seaby ray_mefarsoComment: I think this shot has a lot of potential because the subject is very interesting. I agree with both of the previous commentors. I think it could be more of a "contemplative" shot (if that's what you're going for), but turning her toward the camera 30-45 degrees and leaving the right side of the image darker than the right side. With a complete profile shot, this almost looks like a mug shot... which may have been what you were going for.
All just my opinion. She has a lot of character and is a fantastic subject. |

Different Strokes for Different Folksby jomariComment: Thanks for the backstory. That's a little freaky. I mean the statues are interesting pieces of art, but why is she running her hands all over them? To each her own I guess. |
