Communication - Vintage Mailboxesby TuckersmomComment: Those are really terrific mailboxes, the shot however is not either enough of an interesting spin on the challenge winner nor a spot on reproduction to really wow me. If I just saw this in on its own merits I'd probably give it a 7 or 8. As an imitation/adaptation of the ribbon winner its a 5. Good luck! |

My Point of Viewby soupComment: Well it's technically sound. I don't know what else to say about this one. I just don't find it hugely interesting, but still, technically sound, and that's gotta count for something. 5. |

Smell the flowersby heidaComment: This has a terrific, painterly feel about it. I really like the mood here.
Heida, if you are not, one day, internationally renowned for your work then there is no justice in the art world. On second thoughts I'm pretty sure there is no justice in the art world :)...but we can hope anyway! |

Ipanema beachby LevTComment: The colours here are fantastic, it's a shame about the blown out light in the foreground - it's a little too much for me. Still, a terrific scene. |

Turbulenceby SDWComment: Thanks for directing me here. You certainly have an interesting rationale for submitting your photo. I really like the point of view here, you have undoubtedly portrayed your reverence for the flag - additionally the stark contrast between the bright pole and the deep blue sky makes the image seem almost regal. As for the distracting lights, I see where you are coming from with them. If they do, in fact, serve to represent the two sides of the political equation, unfortunately I feel that the title loses something - the flag is clearly to the right, - this would indicate an almost unanimous political result, with little to no turbulence as you say. Now while the election result was relatively clear cut, there remains (From my outsiders perspective) great deal of idealogical division amongst the population...nitpicking I know, but I might as well be thorough.
As for the aesthetics of the image, personally I feel that if you managed to clone out the lights you would be left with an extremely striking, minimalist image, that better conveyed your reverence and pride. Also, I would attempt to crop out some of the space at the top and side to make the angle of the pole appear more pronounced.
Anyway, hope this has been somewhat constructive.
Cheers

Twilight timeby JinjitComment: Any chance you could clone out the small flare in the middle - I mean this is a superb image either way, but for some reason it distracts me a little. Okay... thats just being fussy for the sake of being fussy - really well done. |
