Sails at Sunsetby TheresaAComment: Nice simple picture with good colours and great light. I like the reflections of the rippling water on the hulls of the yachts. Looks like a slight tilt though... |

Blue-eyed Darner (Aeshna multicolor)by vtruanComment: Beautiful capture of an equally beautiful dragonfly. The slight movement in the tail and the blur of the wings really makes this...
That's a species we don't see in Britain and it is nice to see so much colour and detail. |

Log Raft to Modern Yachtby GIS_boyComment: "Where are the logs?" Some people just have such an odd view of the world ;)
I still think this is a great picture, I hope you have a massive print of it on the wall at home. If I'd taken it I wouldn't stop looking at it! |

Pressworkby thesonComment: Great lighting. I like the tones and the composition. A little more depth of field would have been nice. 8 from me. Bumping up to 9. |

"Regression"--This image was disqualified from the Progress challengeby charliebakerComment: I can't claim to understand this picture at all so I shouldn't really vote on it but it is annoying seeing it sit there on screen above the single 10 I awarded. I suppose all will be revealed after the challenge, but it doesn't look like a photograph, it just doesn't look like anything. It's the only 3 I'm going to give in the challenge. |

Preservation and Restoration of Endangered Habitats (Monarch is only one example)by JunieMoonComment: A little macro-critique in case it is helpful.
I like the format and the composition, the position of the butterfly is good and so is the inclusion of a portion of the flower-head on which the butterfly is feeding.
However, the butterfly isn't in focus, it looks like the point of focus is on the front of the flower.
The trailing edge of the forewing is too close to the edge of the frame and the tip of one of the antennae has been chopped off.
The lighting on the butterfly and the flower is soft and subtle which works nicely but the light on the background is too harsh and bright which is a problem. Sometimes it is possible to hold up a diffuser sheet to control the light on the background.
Rotating the camera to take a vertical might have allowed you to eliminate that bright flower on the bottom left whicle still retaining the overall feel of the picture. |

Vegas - Progress in the Westby angela_packardComment: A simple picture with such busy content. I like to think this would look fantastic as a large print, I want to look at all the little details scattered across the scene. Any picture which makes me want to see more is a success in my view. |
