Everything about this picture works except there appears to be a fog or a haze! Would have liked a clear crisp picture for a âNewâ camera.

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Cute shot! Lots of blown white! Nice lighting on the toys.

Composition:
Good subjects and a very creative activity. I found all the white distracting. Crop may have been a little tight, but not a problem.

Subject:
Meets challenge well. Some voters may not have cared for the title.

Technical:
Focus is good, but I think the DOF is a bit shallow. I would have preferred to see more of the toys in focus.

Summary:
Humorous shot, technically solid, but the white space takes away the âwowâ factor.

Comment:
What a great shot! The colours and framing really work. Blue water looks a bit sureal, but the effect is great. The lines of the opening and the placement of the woman really catch the eye. Cloning out some of the "gray" area from three of the blocks would have reduced a distraction, (for me anyway!)

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Neat! I have no idea what it is. My eyes keep getting drawn to the green void

Composition:
Mask has interesting texture. Green mouth area is flat and too centered. Strands are distracting. The green area may have been less objectionable if the lines around the mouth were clean and free of the strands.

Subject:
Definitely meets the challenge. Good eye for seeing the potential in the shot.

Technical:
DOF is shallow.
I like the lighting.
File size is a bit small. You only used 575 X 431. You could have gone to 640 X

Summary:
Congratulations on your best score! Hope to see may more pictures!
Thanks for your comments. Really helps us appreciate your picture.

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Fuzzy, nothing is in focus.

Composition:
I like the flower placement and the use of the mirror. Background on the left is a bit busy, I prefer the background on the right side. Nice colours in the flower. The mirror frame is a little distracting due to its angle.

Subject:
Meets the challenge

Technical:
f29 @ 10 sec? Did something move? You should have had lots of DOF. As I mentioned above, nothing was in focus. I would have preferred sharp petal/leaf detail. In your comments you didnât mention if the soft look was intentional. You did use smart sharpen, so Iâm not sure.

Summary:
Back at ya! Thanks for the Déjà vu II critique.

I liked you concept, I think the voting masses didnât like the lack of detail

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Looks interesting! I recognize the déjà vu!

Composition:
Good location for the hat, legs provide nice leading lines. Background nice contrast for the legs. I like the colour and the colour fade of the background. Left foot looks a little stiff. I donât wear high heals, so I donât know if you could have pointed the left toe a little more.

Subject:
Nice adaptation on the original. Meets challenge.

Technical:
Unfortunately you didnât provide any post processing information, so Iâm not sure what you were trying to achieve. I find the picture grainy. A second light, or bounced light could have given more detail to the Hat. The hat & foot create a âblack hole.â The legs almost appear to be over exposed. Some dodging and burning may have helped tone down the legs and bring out more detail in the hat.

Summary:
I liked the concept, but this was a really tough challenge. The pictures needed to really pop technically to do well. Itâs frustrating when a decent scoring picture places so low.

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Nice water fall. Good motion in the water and nice detail in the rocks

Composition:
Very centered head on shot. Bottom looks interesting. Could more of it been shown?

Subject:
Meets challenge, but definitely took a different perspective from the original shot.

Technical:
Unfortunately you didnât include any camera settings or post processing information. I can only guess at what you were trying to do. DOF is good, exposure time captures the water motion well. Some cloning could have gotten rid of some of the distracting white spots on either side of the waterfall.

Suggestions:
In the future could you please include camera settings and pre and post processing steps. It helps us appreciate your photo better.

Summary:
Congratâs on your second 6+ picture. Excellent for only 4 challenges. This was a really tough challenge. You got a 6.152 and only scored 67th! Thatâs frustrating. Looking forward to many more excellent photos.

My Head is Spinning

Comment:
Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
My eyes were drawn to the dark center of the sphere, down the body and then back to the sphere

Composition:
Body position is unnatural. Perspective is going away at the bottom, vs at the top. Donât know whatâs on either side, but picture appears to be cropped too narrow.

Subject:
Meets challenge. Time element is present. Thanks for using a 2 sec exposure

Technical:
Bit grainy, but that could be a result of 1600 ISO. Like the choice of B&W. Works well with the âroofâ

Summary:
Quite the resourcefulness in finding a subject to shoot! Good concept, but the spinning âheadâ was obviously not a âhead.â

Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Nice Shot! The eye really draws your attention. Well titled.

Composition:
May have been a bit more effective if the face, âeyeâ was a little more to the left. Find the composition a little too centered.

Subject:
Met the challenge well!

Technical:
DOF a little shallow and focus a little soft. Lighting works well. File size is small. 33k, 600 X 476. May have benefited with a 640 dimension.

Suggestions:
More detail in the eyes, face and whiskers would have supported the mood of the picture

Summary:
Effective creative shot! Nice to see you moving your average up!
