Nearly a good shot - not quite in focus and a little overexposed on the abdome and leg. Shooting with a half-bright and half-dark background makes it difficult. Did you (could you) try centre-weighted metering?

:-) I'd have cropped a lot off the left to focus in on the bugs. Nice take, though.

This is nice. I like the way you haven't tried to include the whole butterfly but have concentrated on its face. I like the composition (and the way the wings frame the head) and sharpness/DOF is good. Perhaps just a little more light on the face would have helpd (fill flash?) but this is still a nice shot. Well done.

Nice shot - shame you couldn't get around to see its face. Focus is where it should be and its good to see the wasp feeding.

I left a piece of plum out in the hope that ti would attract wasps. I got diddly squat. If I'd had a picnic, I'd have been inundated with the things.

Shame we can't see its face (I have many shots of spiders' backsides, and very few of ther faces - strange that). The spider is nicely on focus with the background nicely blurred. DOD looks good too.

Cool subject. I think I'd have been tempted to lose the bottom section of the shot (from around the top of the leaf which obscures its abdomen) to concentrate on that amazing face and those forelegs.

I like the colourful OOF background, but would like to see the subject occupy more of the shot. The inside of the right wing is blown out.

Never seen one of these before! Good detail on the eyes and head. Shame the antennae aren't a bit more in focus. Also, the legs would be quite striking but get a bit lost in the flower.

Nice, but could be a little sharper. Would like to see this subject in profile, to show off the herringbone pattern on the legs (I know it's not easy).

Intereting and colour ful subject. Compsootion is fine, but could really use more DOF - too much of the wing and (crucially) the eye are out of focus. Could you try a smaller aperture?
