Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : the lighting on this is quite well, but i believe that i would have tried a different angle to get rid of the finger's shadow. i really like the slight desaturation of this image. it works well. i believe i would have cloned out that strat thread on your sleeve there as well.
Challenge : this fits the challenge well. the woody subject is either a love hate relationship among the voters, so it sometimes is a chance to use, but it think it worked well for you here.
Conclusion : image overall is done well, just think about those few things i said and what others commented on as well. you did a great job. you should be proud of this image
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : this is a very interesting image. i like it a lot. it really has a lot of potential. i think the composition works, and the cluttered background truly shows the life of an IT specialist. i've worked in computer repair / IT for 6 years now, and this looks like my desk :D i think the monitor should definitely be on, w/ maybe a blue screen to fit the rest of the image, and might have given some additional fill light from behind. lighting is on, but maybe a slightly faster shutter speed to get rid of those blown highlights on the right side.
Challenge : i think this fits the challenge quite nicely. it really caught my eye when voting b/c i can relate to it, and i think it shows how busy the profession is, wether it's helping out a customer or killing time on DPC between jobs :D very well done.
Conclusion : composition, lighting, all is well done. just a few things w/ blowouts here and there, but other than that well done. very nice score on this, and as you continue to enter more challenges, i think the potential you have here will prove well for you, and you'll continue to grow as a photographer. very nice job!
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : i really think the composition and the lighting of this are spot on. there's a great amount of contrast to hold the attention, and the eye travels quite pleasingly throughout the image, with the main focus brought on that cute face with the wore out look :D i feel your pain;) great job on the lighting composition. as a fellow college student, i could not possibly tell you how i agree with this image. only thing i was thinking was what someone else said about having more books open. this would show more frustration and stress, and could have further showed your problems. nonetheless, it's a great image, and very nice score. congrats on your new personal best :D
Challenge : it definitely fits the challenge quite well. being a college student is definitely full time, and this really shows the aggrevation you go through.
Conclusion : i love everything about this image. great lighting, great execution. everything is wonderful. congratulations on a job well done :D
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)

| 01/04/2007 01:01:19 PM | hotpreacher: [this little light of mine...]by hotpastaComment: Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)
Composition/Lighting : first of all let me say i've been a fan of your work for some time now, so ME critiquing your image seems odd, but i'm really glad to have the opportunity. now, the composition on this shot is great, i like the slightly off-center comp. when i look at this setup, i think of the broken world we live in, and the light that you're helping to shine to it (hence your background). this is just an amazing shot. only thing i can possibly nit-pick is the very obvious vinette. i gave it an 8. loved this shot.
Challenge : it definitely fits the challenge. every aspect of it is very emotive, yet has a humorous factor to it at the same time. great job, and very well done. it should have finished higher, in my opinion.
Conclusion : this is a very well done, and incredibly underrated photo. everything from the lighting to the composition and execution just rocks for me. i really like it. if you were to take a break and lay your camera down for a while, i think that would be an injustice to both your talent and the DPC community, you do great work
Keep on shootin!
Good luck on your future challenges:)
