Nice moment captured. Is it illustrative of serendipity though.

This is obviously an example of the former. Nicely photographed and composed, and a cute take on the concept. Something less obvious on the message would have been better I think. Maybe a hand-written phone number with the words "call me", or some other more mysterious message would have been more better.

I think the a flash, or bright lighting, and the resulting contrast is distracting.

If this is a set up shot, then you have way too much time on your hands. I think this is an excellent expample of being in the right place at the right time to get a great shot out of it. Great image that's a great example of serendipity.

I like the colors, and a black squirrel is unusual. But I'm not sure it really represents serendipity.

Not sure which this is, but it certainlly has the feeling of being a candid moment. Which makes it all the more successful if it's a set up. A nice composition, and the darkness of the figures against the background is striking.
