Quite stunning. The bit of luck getting the lights to frame the firework explosion, combined with the effort you put in to be there in the first place really paid off in a big way.

That's nutty. 50 marathons in DV ? I thought Badwater was a crazy race, but that's worse. I like your shot btw - particularly the subject placement wrt the frame and how you've shown him dominated by the environment.

I quite like it cropped in a more panoramic way too, right down so there is no sky showing and all just the purple mountains.

I never did make it to Zabriskie point when I was out there - the road was washed out in the big flood. Did you go to Badwater at all ? If not, it is really worth the trip - some unique views.

One of my favourite shots in the challenge.

The one thing I don't quite see is the need for HDR because the light looks quite flat/ even in the scene already - would be interesting if you could post small versions of the 5 shots - it kinda looks like a single exposure would have done, something like the +1 exposure to keep the whites white but not blown out ? I shot a lot of these myself and just adjusted the exposure until the highlights were well captured but not blown and it seems pretty similar, so I'd love to see the difference between the +1 and final shots if you don't mind ?
