Since the forground is the most interesting part of this photo, I think it should be in sharp focus. The negative space at the top detracts from the scene.

Well, that's one way to keep the horizon from cutting the shot in half. Actually I find this very interesting and pleasing even if disorienting. ALl the triangle areas really create a nice balance.
