Chess match with the death

hmmmm...different. I love when people try different ideas, so thumbs up! It definitely meets the challenge, I'm just not sure I understand the theme. Technically, it looks good, except the light (from a flash, I assume) is a different color than the sunlight, which looks a bit awkward. You might want to use a colored gel on the flash to get it to match the color of the sun.

Ahhhh, yes! An original idea! Finally! Really, I like the idea. Things I would look to improve...I think the shot would be more effective if the undies were a little sharper. I can't tell if it was out of focus, or if there's camera shake from shooting handheld in low light, but it just isn't quite sharp. Also, maybe pay attention a little more to the mood created by the lighting. It looks like you just blasted the subject with a bright light. A little softer, more directional lighting would be more effective. Think about what the lighting might be when the undies are leading up a flight of stairs, and you have the idea. But great idea. Keep it up!

Excellent attempt for a first challenge. Very artful and well thought out. I think you're right, the person and bright spot on the right side needs to be dropped out. If I were taking the same subject, I would actually have gone the opposite direction, dropped the ISO as low as it would go, closed down the aperture, and gone for an even longer exposure (on a tripod, of course). This is assuming that you are have a model that you can get to stand in the corner and stay still for the full length of the exposure.

It's not a bad shot, although her hair is a bit green. But when I see pictures of little girls in makeup and off the shoulder dresses in sultry poses, I start thinking of Jon Benet Ramsey and get kinda creeped out. I'm sure that's not what you intended, but that's my impression of the shot. Sorry.

A good choice of subject, and great timing on the sugar cube drop. Ways to get a better score....On camera flash is pretty harsh, especially from so close, and it takes away any sense of depth to the shot. You definitely need softer light. Even tracing paper placed over the flash will help. Since the focus should be on the sugar cube, do everything you can to put the focus there. Get rid of extra detail, the patterned cup, the wood grain table. Get a plain cup, and sit it on top of a piece of dark paper. Another thing would be the focus. I'd like to see the whole top of the cup in focus.

A good idea, ducks running the rapids. However, it is way oversharpened, and some of the noise got sharpened, so it looks noisy, too. You might go to the forums and search for threads on noise reduction and sharpening.
