The Beaconby alanfreedComment: Very nicely exposed and contrast is very good. I think there is too much sand in the foreground and could use less (maybe even half of it needs to be cropped). It also appears to be slightly oversharpened. 5 |

forever and a dayby grigrigirlComment: Nice idea to use the columns to frame the bride. Very nice pose, as well. Seems a bit tilted to the left. The feathered edge in combination with the thin white border seems to clash a bit. I would have done one or the other. This might also look good as a duotone or selective desat. 7 |

Fallby ursulaComment: I never get the chance to get photos like these in LA. Love the contrast between the brightly lit trees and the dark clouds. 8 |

Early Morning Seascape by jonpinkComment: Excellent slow shutter photo to blur the motion of the water. Although it's an early morning shot, just feels a bit too red/orange for my tastes. Great photo nonetheless. 6 |

Natural Womanby heidaComment: Excellent duotone. Very nice gradations throughout especially on her face. A few bright spots on her lips but not distracting. Her eyes are also very captivating and lend to the seriousness of her look and gaze. I also like how her hair is in front of her face hinting that it was blown by wind or whatnot. 9 |

Peace Pleaseby SonifoComment: The underlying message of this entry is excellent. Also a good idea to use a younger model as a form of inspiration for all people young and old. The desat is also nice but I feel contrast is somewhat flat. The position of her feet looks awkward and uncomfortable but then again kids work in weird positions. 7 |

Naughty .... but niceby agwrightComment: Oh that looks yummy and makes me want to go find something in the kitchen to eat. Very good application of DOF to emphasize the three main textures: puff pastry, cream filling and the strawberry. Lighting seems a bit bright to me and contrast is a bit weak and undefined. 7 |

Film Noir Gun Girlby magnetic9999Comment: Wow, this is a great photo! Soft focus really makes the picture in this case. B/W gives it a retro feel about it which I like. However, her facial expression, although nothing really wrong with it from a technical standpoint, doesn't really fit the fact she's wielding a gun. 8 |

An eye on the cider press.by jjbeguinComment: I hate being this picky but I try to relate the photo to the title in some manner and I just can't do that with this one. I see the man looking at something and I expect to see the cider press somewhere and I do not see it. Maybe I need to infer that it's there because of the type of cup he's holding but I am not sure. All I see are his eyes looking out of frame at something and it makes me want to see what's there. The composition, duotone and strong contrast are this photo's strongest points and they are used to their utmost. 6 |

Curves n' Linesby dinnComment: An amazing use of leading lines (curves)! My eyes just flow all over the curves and circles very smoothly. Very interesting building, as well. To be very nit picky, I would have cropped the left side a tad to meet the corner where the large arc meets the circle from the glass ceiling frame (left edge of the frame). That way your eye is forced to choose that line and flow back to the right. 9 |
