Waiting for something betterby joek1dComment: A well seen shot. The resolution is low though, which will effect your score. I would have liked to seen this in b&w, it would have emphasized the grubiness of the man and his surroundings. Overall a well-compose and well-seen shot. 8 |

Trioby BruBComment: if you wanted to get rid of the reflections in the glasses what you could do is take the same picture against a white background, lighting only with a light aimed from below the table at the white background. Then you could invert the picture, leaving you with a similar picture to what you have now, without the nasty reflections. An excellent shot though, i love playing with glass, your concept here is very similar to my 'ornate' shot. |

10D: a Self-Portraitby kirbicComment: I'm not sure if you spot editted here or what, because there are patches of pure black against the fabric background, and they're driving me nuts! Make sure your monitor is calibrated properly. |

Bar Catby mariomelComment: Wicked shot, I love the red tone of the picture. Straighten it out, crop a little tighter and you've got an awesome image here. Nice job!

The Cellistby AleciaComment: I'm continually drawn to your work Alecia. This piece is wonderful, again, such a story behind it!!! I love the lighting in this piece, it really seems to dance around, which corresponds to the subject! Wonderful, another to add to my favourites! I would be tempted to crop some of the space on the left outside of the observer, might just draw more focus to the cellist!

reflectionsby AleciaComment: Awesome Alecia. This really demonstrates what photography is too me. It's not just a picture, it's an entire story captured in a single moment. Everything has some purpose to the story. The black and white is beautiful, with perfect contrast. Nice clear sharp image, the blurring of the actual person is great, especially because it contrasts the image in the mirror. This ones going in my favourites! Keep up the awesome work!

Electric Lacesby Geo_GriffinComment: I agree with Tom on this shot. The original was much better. Did you get this idea (highlighting laces by PWL) from Photography Monthly?

vincent-s.jpgby jjbeguinComment: I think you need just a tidge more contrast here jj. Awesome as usual, Vincent is an incredible model!
I wrote the above comment in 2004, and happened to come back to this image now, and think the comment is a complete load of crap. Funny.
I think the contrast is right on, it's a tricky image with the shadows and light being so varied.
Vincent is a fantastic model, I must say. I think he embodies so well what so many portraits miss in their subjects - honesty. Art is always searching for honesty, and your photos of Vincent provide such a clear. truthful honesty that you can't help but want to meet Vincent!
Always a pleasure viewing your work.
Peace be.

Despair in Triplicateby lizzyc3Comment: You should be very proud of this photo lizzy! Not only is it a fabulous piece of art, but it's provoked so much emotion in people that it has made them uncomfortable. Take that as a compliment! Art is supposed to provoke emotion, and delve into the human psyche, and you've done that masterfully here. If some people on the site are too close-minded, scared of reality, frightened of their own emotions, or too used to seeing pretty happy stock photos then that's a shame! Congrats to you!
