Sleeping Beeby pitsamanComment: Incredible DOF for such a closeup. Ahh, f/13. Challenging lighting I would expect then. Great job, pitsaman! |

Going Nowhereby becloComment: Almost too active in the background but that "flaw" is overcome by the overwhelming presence that rust has in this shot. It is simply central. |

rustby lelaniComment: Wish you chould have shot this from the other side so that the rusted pipe was more "unbroken" and the chain link could have still trailed off out of focus. Good idea and good eye, though. |

Tonawanda: Gateway to the Erie Canalby lwkimagesComment: Wow. I don't like the red so much but it does make for an impressive effect. The buildings seem far away when I focus on them but the color effects you used help to mask that distance. Perhaps putting the bridge (lock?) higher so that it sits closer to a thirds line would help me with this. Regardless of the scoring it is a unique approach (or at least one I haven't seen in challenges in a long time). Way to get out of the box on this one. |

Cotswold Lifeby nordicComment: Lovely scene. You selected a first rate subject and you shot it from a fantastic angle. The border could be smaller but the photograph is superb for the challenge. One of my favorites. |

Storms over the Mississippiby sherComment: Great shot. Love the ethos you imparted with the black and white. I assume the fog is an actual element of the shot and not an effect you added in post-shot work. Good job with the composition and the use of negative space for the top 60 percent of the frame. |

Edmonds Bay Marinaby cabaComment: Just a little blurry. I'm thinking that's due to the light level. I like the colors you picked up here and the lines all throughout the middle section contending with the texture of the clouds and then extending (via the reflections) down into the smooth water. A higher ISO might have helped a little. |

A Quiet Night in Times Squareby Brooklyn513Comment: Good, solid shot. Just a little motion blur from moving cars but considering the light levels you got a nice pic here. Wish the lens was a little more rectilinear (notice the vertical lines leaning inwards as they move up the image). Was this a crop of the original shot? I'd also be interested to find out what your settings were. |

Ruralby amsmythComment: I like the impression but it feels to me that the vertical structures (silos, buildings, fenceposes, etc) are skewed by about 2 or 2.5 degrees clockwise. I think rotating the image back and recropping would have helped me to enjoy the scene more. Also the tree on the far left side extends into the photo and breaks the continuous skyline. I think it would be worth it to crop the photo so that those branches weren't in the photo; I know it would mean losing the leftmost silo but I think that would make a more compelling story. I do like this rural setting more (reminds me of where I live). |
