I lack the technical expertise to suggest what might improve this image; I just know that I find it somewhat uninteresting. The traffic lights definitely mar the overall look for me.

For anyone interested this is a photo of a selenite crystal cluster from the Great Salt Plains in northern OK. There isn't any paper added nor sand, just the crystal itself.

These crystals have a nice texture to them. I think that lighting them from behind would have provided a neat effect. Technically, the focus is sharp and the exposure is correct. The glare from the crystal in the center of the frame is a bit distracting, but it does not ruin the photograph by any means. Nice job. *6* -balynch

nice texture. i'm not sure if the sandy texture on top of the crystal (or whatever it is) texture is necessary, but that's up to you. the only thing I would ask for is a little variation in color. othere than that, it's all good.
