Comment by elemess:
Well, the selective desaturation helps make the wheel pop, but it also makes the scene feel contrived (especially since the block attaching the wheel to the bricks looks b&w). Would a more blurred background be more effective?

Thank you kdolso for being the only commenter to take the title and see beyond "Yet another pretty flower close-up but with an ugly fence." The setting is exactly as I found it. "Zero interference" is my policy, for now.

Thanks to everyone else who took the time to comment. With 683 entries it must have been tempting to leave comments out altogether! I'm certainly gaining an idea of what poeple like and what they don't. Great stuff! Thanks again.

Someone commented on the rose's focus being a little off. It is? Or was it(CRT) monitor glare? The focus is very near perfect on my screen. Hmmm, I guess the furtherest two petals are a little out of focus around the very edges. Pity I don't have the luxry of an SLR camera to see these things when the button goes down. One day...

Your image conveys the message nicely but maybe just a bit too nicely. It seems a little traditional. Beautiful crisp images on the face of the timepiece.

Good use of depth of field, and the water droplets look great. Nice composition running from the outside to the center.

Love the blur. Not so sure about the B&W. I feel that the motion could be brought out more if in colour. Could be wrong, though.
