Before E-mail, Word Processors and Typewriters...by tsheetsComment by JunieMoon: I was considering doing such a shot, and presenting it as an old fahioned handwritten manuscpirt, which is how they did it even as recently as 1920.. Could't find the correct tools, though. The only thing I am not seeing is an ink well. If there is one, it is so dark that it doesn't complete the composition. If you used an oil or keresene lamp, there may have been better light. I'll give it a 7 . |

The Approachby tsheetsComment by Keith Maniac: I think that the graininess of this shot really adds to it somehow. The light on the rails and lights on the train add a lot, too. Very nice! |

The Approachby tsheetsComment by Pixelstate: Very nice. I'm sure that the grain won't be to everyones's taste, but I think it adds to the mood. Overall this may be a little dark on some peoples screens (looks perfect on my LCD) Excellent. |

The Approachby tsheetsComment by Kavey: In terms of the challenge theme, this is one of the strongest contenders. Those lines are so strong and lead so effectively to an object that actually has interest and serves as an excellent focal point. I really iike the grittiness inherent in it and the darkness too. Black and white is essential to that. Composition rocks too. 10 |

Before E-mail, Word Processors and Typewriters...by tsheetsComment by CLarson557: I was reading your note....and thinking about the language they used back then. They usually used mother, father, children instead of mom, dad, and kids. Just being picky. Beside that, this is a very clever idea for this challenge and very well put together. Lighting is nice. Perhaps desaturating it a little would make it more antique looking. Good luck in the challenge. |
