Comment by EL-ROI:
Nice landscape. The lines present led my eyes all the way up the hill but they didn't come to rest on any particular subject. I love the crop. I think you got the snow down great. Not too much gey. There seems to be a purple color cast in this photo which doesn't really add any zest.

Comment by SaraR:
paynekj, perhaps? The landscape reminds me of North Devon, but more than that the composition reminds me of paynekj. A bleak scene, well composed, although I wonder if it would benefit from a crop to remoe the edge at the bottom.

Now you know how abstracts work in free studies. Don't be deterred.

Comment by bvy:
The chroma noise along the right vertical is a wee bit noticeable. Since this is a fairly abstract presentation, you probably could have noise reduced or even blurred it out. It's a minor point. Overall, very nice.

It's good to see something different and I like it. I would have removed the bit of noise in the tree on the right.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Initial impression: 'Oh gawd, that's gorgeous' is the exact phrase I uttered upon seeing this shot. Just lovely.

Technical: Great dof (though would be curious to see how it looks with camera on a tripod thus allowing for even greater dof), thirds and leading lines all work beautifully together. Light is simply amazing. Just a stunning capture. Great timing, catching that golden light.

Artistic: James Herriot should be striding up that fenceline on the left coming to tend a sick cow now, shouldn't he? Serene and just lovely beyond words. My roots are British, and this is the UK I've always wanted to see. Lucky you living there. *rummaging to find passport*

Overall: A top 20 finish is nothing to sneeze at but this could have easily ribboned. Wish it had! Would have perhaps liked to see the image slightly bigger, but better to err on the side of caution than risk distortion.

Excellent work, hope to see more of it in the future.

Feel free to PM me with any questions,

Susan
