Comment by TrollMan:
Great idea but I would have tried this one in BW since the uneven yellow (due to flash) isn't too pleasing for my eyes. A tripod and no flash would maybe also have worked better.

This image seems over processed to me as it appears "flat" and lacking depth.

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Good choice of concept .. maybe a little more work on the exection needed.

Composition:
This works .. you have got the thirds working well ... you have created a capture that almost works.

Subject:
As a concept this works ... it is the execution that has some issues.

Technical (Colour and light):
it is here you have some issues ... as with the window framed shot .. you need to work with clean materials ... the bottle here is really dirty and this doesn't help in projecting what you want. The DOF works well ... is the shot a little grainy though .. have a look for neat image or something like that to assist in smoothing an image.

To grow its vote?:
Keep it up .. you have shown you have the creativity ... its just now putting it together with the execution.

Summary:
Well done ... you have showing a good move in your skills.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via
the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Jutilda, receive my most humble apologies. This was simply a matter of "running-out-of-time," not some secret message to all the Bible Scholars.
As with other entries, I got this one in just "under-the-wire." Since I couldn't seem to settle on an idea, I grabbed my camera while I was at church that Tuesday evening for a meeting. I asked the musicians if I could take for photos while they practiced & they were agree-able with the idea.
That was about 9:00 P.M. (Eastern) I got home as quickly as possible in order to process the photo & enter it before midnight.
I wonder how many times I have been the last photo to get into a contest. Hmmmm! Interesting. :) SCH

Comment by 777STAN:
My premise that the Bible is a success in Itself could easily have been based solely on the fact that I believe it, and that it has been the single greatest influence in my life for any possible personal sucess that could be cited. (This particular copy was printed by A. J. Holman & Co., Philadelphia, 1892. Family heirloom.)
However, I chose to take a different approach for the purpose of this challenge. Any historian will remember that The Bible was the first book created by the "modern" printing press of Gutenberg. It remains the success that it is because it remains the "most purchased & most unread" book of all time. (Of course, the "most unread" part lends credibility to a label of Failure from a purely human vantage point.)

For some reason I enjoyed this one. Really doesn't need the title -- it stands well on its own.
