Agree this is improved; wish I'd seen it before I posted my comments on the other one (which sort of make it look like I did see it first -- oops!!). Nicely done, and excellent use of the comments to improve an image. Just what side challenges are for!

I think part of why people are thinking vertical is the centered composition; for me, moving the subject here right (so that the lace is still on the left trailing into the center) might work just as well as a vertical crop. Lighting is really nice, and the subtlety here is perfect. Excellent shot.

The flashlight again... hmm. I like the way the lighting worked on both shots. I'll have to keep that in mind and try it out over the next month! I like how the shadow appears as a taller and thinner glass... neat effect.
