Office from the leftby B74AComment by B74A: Thank you for the comments ... I should point out that it is not with a self timer or remote, but with a collegue induced shutter release ... I just love my new camera and both the 50mm as well as this one, then 10-22mm. |

Office from the leftby B74AComment by pineapple: It's like the pleochroic effect minerals display under a geologist's poalarized microscope. As you say, unavoidable. You can sometimes see it displayed on cheap aquariums too - as caused by the glass bending slightly. BTW, interesting portrait. Message edited by author 2006-10-17 10:47:37. |

Classic Instruments - VOR-DMI and DMEby B74AComment by B74A: Originally posted by saintaugust: cool! looks and feels like it was taken in 1943 or something.
and is that top guage indicating the price of gas? lol |
1943, haha! I guess you mean the price of gas is going up so fast you can see the digits moving, and that this is US cents pr gallon?
This aircraft is from the 80s, but still flying. Modern aircraft are all CRT or LCD screens, this is the "real thing". Nothing against glass, but I enjoy the hands-on aspect for now.
The top gauge is showing the distance to a navigation aid, as DME is short for Distance Measuring Equipment.

Perfect ring of airby B74AComment by B74A: Originally posted by levyj413: That's an amazing trick, and great photo! |
Thanks, Jeffrey.
Since I know from your shots that you have an A620 with UW casing, you should replicate it, but take it from below the surface instead, maybe even make the rings yourself and then shoot them.
To make the rings, point your mouth up, keep water as calm as possible, and make a short, powerful burst of air with a kissing mouth. Even at 10 to 15 feet, a good ring in calm water just keeps going and going, becoming larger, and thinner, as the one in the picture which is several feet in diameter. The rings are actually revolving around their core axis, and this is very clear to see, maybe a videoclip for once would be in order.
Go for it!

Exchanging genesby B74AComment by B74A: [quote=levyj413] Wow! Gotta love the macro on that camera. :) [/quote
Yes, as you know yourself, it is very versatile ... just needs a manual focus and a better movie compression algorithm for 640x480.
Btw, I heard from someone in the know that it is actually the male here who is the red-tailed of the two. Wonder if anyone can shed any light - not that it matters that much anyhow! |
