Winter Light - WK07by DJWoodwardComment by Ecce_Signum: Love the lines of the shadows and trees, both composition and exposure are spot on. Personally I'd like to see a little more detail in the stump maybe by using fill-in flash? Amazing that this was shot around noon! |

Breaking Through - WK08by DJWoodwardComment by WalesP: I see what you mean. It is so dark but then there is that little ray of light just to the right of center. I like it... like the opening of a new dawn, or a good change is coming.

Winter Light - WK07by DJWoodwardComment by tnun: Oh my, snows of childhood when I was surrounded by woods and light, can almost taste it. The lines, the leaning, the curves, the mounding. Crisp, vibrant. |

Breaking Through - WK08by DJWoodwardComment by trevytrev: Great shot, I love dramatic lighting. I might crop out the bottom which appears to be water or something and just start the frame with the dark tree. either way it still rocks! |

Breaking Through - WK08by DJWoodwardComment by Ken: For me what does it here is the contrast. You have the mostly dark area on the bottom, a large gray area of gray above, and then the turbulent clouds with bright sunlight "breaking through". This hints at a calm being interrupted by something on the opposite end of the spectrum, and the calm will soon be gone. Your title sums it up well. |

Breaking Through - WK08by DJWoodwardComment by Melethia: As photographers, we're kinda fascinated with light and the way it plays upon things. Here you have the extremes - darkness and light - spread across your canvas. And while the way the light shafts slash to the ground is nice, what draws me is the very small amount of light on the left. The dark is winning there, but the light hasn't given up the fight yet. |
