Cute idea and good composition. I think i may have preferred that you focus on the yolk....the dof just seems 'off' to me as is. A colored background (maybe golden-yellow) may have also helped this 'pop.'

This is a gorgeous shot and one you should be proud of for your first shot. For the future, it helps to know that the "challenge subject" is taken pretty seriously here, which is why you didn't score higher (he looks to sweet it be in despair). I hope you will continue with the challenges though - you have a wonderful eye, and the image is beautiful.

like the DOF on the foreground (fuzziness) maybe a touch sharper at the main part of the egg and yolk. Was the color of the egg a purplish color?

Wow! What a serious, wrinkly little guy! His squeezed eyes and pursed mouth really speak of despair. I hope that's just his normal expression for now, and not an indicator of actual trouble. Intense photo. The tight cropping really enhances it all.
