I sugest you look more closley at the other images in past comps that have done this before. There are quite a few bits of dust distorting the white lines both around the clip and in the rest of the photo.

Unsure how the title works with a B&W image as the FeCr2O4 is normaly browish black.

I love the sparks off the finger, but the 2 washed out strands on the left could be removed. I would have also liked to see more of the finger.

Very flat light from the on camera flash. Try using the light from a window as your modeling light if you don't have an off camera/bounce flash.

Very soft focus. You may also find a polerising filter is useful to remove the reflections.

Nice capture. The loss of focus around the right edge and not the left makes the central composition odd. You may want to look at cropping this so you only see the blue sky as the background and the stem is in the left 1/3.
