Beachby GolferDDSComment: something awry seems to have happened in the bush area, giving the coloured selection a blue halo. it's also unclear as to why that certain bush has been selected to remain in colour - did you perhaps consider keeping the footprints in the sand in colour? i do like the grainy feel of the image (such style is always welcome in my book) and the footprints are a lovely touch. 5. |

Red flavorsby rameviComment: if i saw strawberries that coluor, i might want to steer clear. they just look too pale here... i would definitely be tempted to select them and make them darker and bolder, bringing a deeper red out. when photographing fruit, the more you can make the viewer salivate, the more successful the image. |

The other sideby AndelainComment: i really like this. i think this should get bonus marks alone for originality... post editting i think i might have liked to have seen the change from mono to colour through the middle of the river, with fade between the two extremes. how you would do that i'm not entirely sure, but i think it might be worth trying... also, it might actually be like that, but the bridge appears a bit too blue? aside from those minor points, i think this is a great take on the challenge, really witty and appeals to me muchly. 9. |

Every Heartby HavokComment: sweet, endearing, bloody well taken shot this is. i love the focus and the dark lighting. the red heart is a brilliant choice of subject for a challenge of this type - and unlike maky shots here, t looks like it has been done for a reason to really draw ones attention to something specific. 10. |

Saxby graphicfunkComment: first word that comes to mind is odd. second thought is that you seem to be approaching a really great idea, just not quite realised. i don't know if this was the original intention, but if you had bent down a bit and taken the shot looking more inside the saxaphone, and desatted the same way, i think it would be more effective. basically, i love the idea that the inside is brass, and the rest is grey. editting, i might have tried to either clone out or blur some of the stuff reflected in the brassy bits - just appears a smidgeon bit cluttered, really. concept 10, realisation 6, average 8. |

Atrium #2by RasaiComment: to be honest, there isn't that much indication that the shot's been desatted at all - for all the viewer knows the floor tiles and underside of the staircase might be grey anyway. on closer inspection the selection or area where the top of the stair soffit abuts the wall appears a bit clumsy. i don't know how you selected your areas, but i suspect you might find more control using the lasso (or equivalent - if you have Photoshop the magnetic lasso is wonderful). |

who is afraid of yellow bricks?by PhileineComment: no doubt 90% of comments you'll receive will be about the border - and the other ten percent will be about how 90% will be about the border. but still - that border! it's a very original, and strikingly effective way of fitting in the challenge. to be honest, it's so strikingly effective the yellow brick is a little unecessary in the scheme of things. my only other slight criticism is that the top part of the frame is a bit uneven. that aside, i found this quite bold and most enjoyable to view. 8. |

heads or tails ?by zjnztComment: well, this is the best coin tossing shot (totally blasts mine). HOW you got such a great shot with the coin in flight will have me scratching my head for yonks. i hope you tell. i like this muchly, though the one thing i'd add is that the hand looks a bit yellow / orange to me - perhaps the lighting is a little harsh? still, very good shot! 9. |

F/11 by choiceby cabaComment: Total class and a gorgeous image. i'm trying to stop leaving comments on BEAUTIFUL pictures upon which i can't offer any sort of constructive comment, but dang it, i can't help it. this is wonderful. pictures of cameras don't normally get me excited (a bit too much unoriginality and seemingly lack of thought to me) but this is a true exception. focus, shades, angle, EVERYthing is just perfect. a remarkable shot, and one of my top 3. 10 |

Reading Bible or Magazine? ur choice?by theONE77Comment: well, the magazine obvoiusly (you said my choice). well, not that magazine, but a magazine. perhaps there's a magazine about bibles? would that be a test of faith? ANYway - why did you cover up the title of the magazine? i can see it's health today from the web address at the base! also, for such a composed shot, a plain boring background would work better, as would slightly less harsh (but perhaps brighter) lighting. possibly from a window? shot also seems a tad noisy / grainy / pixelly. a gentle going over of neatimage works miracles! |
