Good idea, but wouldn't the flames be trailing an [upward] moving ball? Just turn the ball upside down before shooting and rotate the image 180 degrees to get the effect. A low-speed fan on the flames would really give the impression of a meteor.

match this!

OK- foreground match and background lighter. The depth of field hurts you here- the flame is in focus but the match isn't, so obviously they're on different planes. Shoot this in brighter light... the flame won't be as blown out and you'll be able to increase depth of field.

Very cool. I like the transparency of the flames and thermal distortions in the background. I think it could have been even better with a vertical crop of the left side.

This could have been really cool if only you'd cropped just the hand and shot in brighter light to cut down on noise levels. I appreciate the obvious trouble you went to for the flames, though.

I think the dark might background on this one is hurting you- just zoom in close on one or two peppers and light 'er up! The contrasting red and green colors are nice, the off-center border is not.

The fire is very nicely exposed, but the printer destruction seems pointless. Crop in really tight to minimize the distracting furniture and don't bother with the border- would you really frame this?

Yes, it meets the challenge but goes no further than that. The flames are blown out and basically centered in a static composition. Maybe a different angle or diagonal?

For poaching fish? Interesting idea, and I like the fish-shaped flame. Might have been even better with a (flame colored) red lure and a darker background for contrast.

Nicely torched. Would have been nicer with better peppers- these look more like white cherries to me.

... the microscope in my hand. The flame is just too small. Perhaps if the fire was more brightly colored? I was going to try a similar shot + maybe one using mirrored sunglasses, but the reflections were too small so I gave up.
