Revelationby welcherComment: Shows texture. DOF doesn't work with the blurred bottom. Photo still seems a bit like a wallpaper shot, even with the use of the angle. |

Agedby snoopyComment: Pretty good choice of texture. However, the image doesn't seem in focus - perhaps camera shake. Maybe use a tripod. Also, the lighting is off. Using flash is ok, but make sure that you have enough fill light for the whole image or that you aren't too close to your subject. |

Environmentally Friendly???by syamjonimiComment: Aside from the few darker colored things[?] in the upper left and the right center, I really don't see texture here. The pic is blurry, and color is unappealing. This shot doesn't hold my interest other than in questioning what it is. It doesn't demonstrate the skills that I use as criteria for a good shot. |

Screwedby karmatComment: Like the creativity! Good lighting! Don't like the blurriness in close foreground and something seems "off" about the background. |

Chikubiby risu81Comment: Ooooooh! Fairly risque for this place....but I LIKE it! This is a good example of texture....might have been even better if you had used blue body paint! :)~ I AM serious about that. I do have a suggestion - try to work on the depth issues with focus. Good marks for originality! |

Slide Sleeveby IsaacComment: I do see the texture. However this shot doesn't demonstrate many other skills or techniques that I would use as criteria for a good shot. The only thing it does is show an example of texture. It seems blurry. It doesn't capture my interest. |

Touch Me!by CowgirlComment: As a textbook picture of texture, this is great! As a "challenge" pic, it's boring. In my shot, I tried to be more creative with the subject and even added a lil artistic license, while still showing texture. |

Flourishby CheetahComment: I want to thank everyone for commenting. I was taking some shots of pine tree bark when I saw the cones. I tried for a while to get a good shot but I kept having depth of field issues. Since I wasn't sure how to correct this, I thought maybe I could mask it a bit with the negative shot. I was also pleased with the colors that were produced. I thought this might add a bit of artistic flair, but in hindsight, I see that this was really a cheap trick to hide my lack of technical skill. This was my first submission online....not only to DPC, but anywhere for critique. It was a pleasure, and I have learned a few things in the process. Mostly, that the critics don't like color inversion... :)~ ...but alot of people like the final colors. Thanks again, and keep your camera close. Aaron |

Ugly Ducklingby rdesaiComment: Great shot of this distinguished fellow! White balance is just a shade too bright. |

Cantaloupeby jmattysComment: Textbook example of texture! If that was the only criteria, you'd get a 10! But...this pic seems to have been sharpened a bit too much, and is a bit bright on the lower left corner. Also, I would like to see a bit more creativity in the shots for a "challenge" vs. wallpaper shots. |
