Either it's a excellent images or it's a lousy one for this challenge. It seems like a stadium to me. Do you work there, or work there, or own it, or for some other reason spend a significant amount of time there? I'll vote more accurately once I know that. |
| 09/28/2002 01:42:00 AM | My Whole World in a Cornerby lmhrComment: I'm sorry, I'm seeing "My whole world against a blue wall," not "my whole world in a corner". If I had to guess, my guess it's Jean's shot (because admittedy it's another one of those which is a good use of negative space). I might wrong on that one. But that's my guess. I'm sure I'll find out come next week. CJ |

| 09/28/2002 01:45:00 AM | My Pianoby LanSnakeComment: What can I tell you? It's a good, strong, graphically simple image. But perhaps too simple, somewhat lacking in what Freeman Patterson use to call "dynamic tension." Perhaps sticking a few human fingers in there pressing the keys would provide the necessary tension to really make it a great shot. Just a thought. CJ | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/28/2002 01:36:00 AM | 1 am. need sleep.by HecubusComment: Good shot, but I find myself very distracted by the lack of stong blacks and the horrific amount of digital noise. Suggest: re-shoot and re-submit. But the idea is good, the camera angle is excellent, and it seems to me to have the potential to be a great idea for this particular challenge. CJ |
| 10/02/2002 05:16:00 AM | Barge and Bridgeby inspzilComment: When I look at this image, what I primarily gravite to is the boat. Because that's primarily what this image communicates. And so it begs the question, is this boat your corner of the world? And if not, then I'm going to suggest the lower marking received are in part because this perhaps isn't the best representation of... well... your corner of the world. Beyond that, the absolute gray of the moment you made this image makes it seem dull to me, lifeless, and makes me wonder how much more impact the image would have had were in shot on a different day and in different light -- the lighting we choose will either make the ordinary bland or the ordinary extra-ordinary. On a good note, however, it is a relatively clean image. That is to say, I don't find it over cluttering. So that is something in your favor. But in the future, pay more attention to the light. Because doing so can make the ordinary...well... extraordinary. Hope that helps, CJ | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/25/2002 10:29:00 PM | prison?by KAOSComment: It's not so much the image I'm really commenting on, here but rather the title. Is "prison" really what you're trying to communicate with this image? I don't think it is. I might be wrong. But that's my guess. So I don't at all question that this image is indeed part of "your corner of the world", but I do question whether the current title is the best choice. You're decision.
