Old post circles.by abroken1Comment: Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.
First impression: Lines and rings draw you into the center, then out and around following the radial cracks. Very center focused.
Find the picture very busy. Lots & lots of minor shapes making bigger shapes, but no dominant, clear or central shape. Picture has very strong âtextureâ
B/W works well for this shot and I like your lighting. The lighting exemplifies the texture comment. Could be a little sharper.
Feel you met the challenge, but you may have had too many âshapesâ :-)

shape of a lureby CONRADComment: Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.
First impression: Eyes definitely drawn to the bright yellow, down to the eye, to the buds on the right and then to the line attachment area.
Picture is busy with the plant competing for attention. The black areas actually encourage the competition between the plant and the lure by creating such strong contrast. A different background, say a rock or a log would have given more attention to the lure.
Glare from the light source is distracting. A soft or reflected light would have helped.
Your colour processing and DOF work well for the lure. Cropping could be a little to tight though!.
Your file size is a little small at 626 x 416 and 106k. Try to push the 640 and 150k size
I think you met the challenge well, the lure definitely has an interesting shape, and the yellow and black definitely catch your attention

Riding the Subwayby jpetersComment: Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.
First impression: My eyes were drawn to the center figure with her face looking down the track. The lighting contrast and the red coat were the draw. Then up to the white lettering before the girl pushing the stroller, then over to the two gentlemen. But then I was drawn back to the center figure.
I think you met the challenge well. I liked the way you captured the blank impersonal look on the peoples faces.
I find the picture unnaturally dark. It appears as if there is a post on your side of the tracks. This creates a large black space. I think your shot would have been improved if you could have moved to your right and excluded it.
I like what you did with the colours. They create a nice contrast to the train and shadows and draws you to the peoples faces.
The granularity works for this shot.
All in all I like the picture, it brings back memories of my days riding the subway.
