Washington Square Parkby pawdrixComment: I passed by there for the first time in a while after shooting a prom at 24 5th. I must say the Square has cleaned up a bit since I last was there years ago... It's surreally clean. |

Decked outby MelethiaComment: I remember one of those such festivals in Frankfurt in October. Tasty food and great beer. |

View of South Beachby TammsterComment: Perhaps either use a custom white balance or simply select the tungsten option. Use an ISO of 200-400 but no need to go higher. Use a moderate ap of, say, 5.6 to 16.00. I find these type of settings, depending on the night, yield better crisper less noisy shots. I prefer shorter shots simply because they yield a much better quality result. I also think that above all timing the golden hour and being there ready for it is even more important than anything I have just said. Get there an house before sunset, set up tripod, and start shooting. You will be surprised at the results. |

Study of Architectureby UNLArchitectComment: Nice idea and good model. One of the better ones in this challenge. But I feel the model is a bit underexposed. It needs an extra kiss of light to make it pop. |

Relaxby ImagineerComment: A strong blast of fill flash that... on camera too. At that shutter speed, I am surprised it made much difference. But it looks good. Almost as if you had a large reflector on the ground... Nice shot. |

Detroit's Broken Architectureby LooWooComment: One of the more interesting snaps in this challenge but lacking in contrast and pop. If you use curves in Photoshop or equivalent, you can increase the contrast a little and that improves the photo a lot. To make the composition work better, you somehow need to capture a detail with the alley as the background. Otherwise, this ends up just being an empty background which does not prevent the viewer from clicking on to the next image quickly... Detroit looks like my kind of city to photograph. NYC is too damn clean these days (safe as a result). |
