I love the tones in this image. I like the sillohuette of the trees as well. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the horizon near the center of the frame. Cropping out a little on the bottom would offset your horizon a little, adding balance to the photo (IMHO). Still a great shot and I give it an 8! Good luck in the challenge.

The more I look at this, the more I like it. My shot this week is a similar concept (foreground object the main focus of the image). I like the very simple lines of the tree line horizon, the clear sky. I also like the graduation of tones in the foreground. I keep trying to imagine this shot without the branch to the right of the stem. I think I would either like this better without the branch, or crop lower so the branch doesn't start at the very bottom of the frame. Nice image and good luck in the challenge...8

This is pretty cool, but I had to give you a 9 instead of a 10 because I couldn't find the American flag the astronauts left up there. Maybe it was on the dark side of the moon this day! I can't explain why, but the white portion of the border is a little over bearing. Maybe a thin white border with a thicker black border would give it more balance.

City Landscape

This is soooo cool! The composition and the colors are great! The only thing I would have done with this is a levels adjustment to increase your blacks (ie make your blacks darker) to give a better feel for night time. That's just me, though. I hope you don't get voted down for the cityscape vice landscape. I see it as what's on the land where you are, so it's a landscape! 8

So far, this is my only 10! Your composition is really interesting. The rows of headstones brings your eye to the building, and the tree on the right adds balance. I like the wide range of tones from whites to blacks. The left wall of the house is a little blown, but spot editing rules prevent a better fix, so I won't count off for that. There are some power lines running horizontally behind the house that I find a little distracting, but once again, you can't do anything with that based on contest rules. I would clone them out for printing, though. Overall, a very nice image, well composed, nice balance of tones, good DOF. Well done!

You have some vivid colors in the sunset/sunrise, whcih are nice. I like the way they contrast with the blues remaining in the sky. The foreground is bugging me a little. Maybe too much. I would have cropped higher on the bottom. Is the blurriness in the trees due to wind? Not much you can do about that. The sky is the main interest here for me.

Oak Tree

I was just telling my wife last week that I\'ve been looking for a really cool, solitary tree that I can photograph on the crest of a hill. This is definitely a cool tree. I like the patches of green grass, and the sky is nice. I find the bush a little distracting, but you can\'t do anything about that with the editing rules. I\'d clone it out, though, for printing or other purposes. The only other thing I would have tried would be to get a lower vantage point. I would have liked to see the base of the tree at the crest of the hill, rather than having more \'land\' behind the tree trunk. If I had access to this place, I would go back and photograph it often... lots of different skys, sunsets, sunrises, rain, snow, meteor storms, etc!! I like this a lot and I give it an 8! I hope it does well in the challenge! Good luck,

One other think... I'm not sure I like the white border... actually, i'm pretty sure that I don't. You really don't have any white tones in the image to draw out with the white border. I may have gone all black, but this is a very minor detail.

This is one of my favorites so far this week. What a great location for a cityscape. If I were you, I'd go back and shoot this again on a sunny day, blue sky with clouds! Thanks for the fun image! 8

This is so cool!! I need to get me one of those wooden drawing poser guys, although I don't think I could be nearly as creative as this! The pose is awesome, the lighting is amazing! You have given this inanimate object some great human character! Your subject placement is perfect. I initially gave this an 8 on my initial voting, but since I can't find any way to improve the image it must be a 10. One of my favorites this week (and only 10). Great job!

Nice composition and concept. Nice clear blue sky as well! The ends of a few branches are showing on the left and I'd like to see more of the boys face. Still a great shot as is! Very well done.
