raining dayby bilouajComment: The image is rather small and dark and Iâm afraid I just cant figure out what is going on. It seems it could possible be an interesting picture but itâs just too dark to tell for sure. |

Red Sky at Night Sailors' Delightby pixeldustComment: Nice tones and an reasonable composition. It looks to be blurred due to camera shake though. The grainy (noisy) texture suggests that this was a long exposure and a tripod or other convenient support would have helped to eliminate the camera shake. Sometimes with longer exposures and the chance of camera shake it is a good idea to take several identical pictures and pick the sharpest one later. |

Blue Alleyby The_squirrelComment: What a shame it is so small! It look like an interesting composition with gentle tones but its so small I cant really tell. |

Heavy Weatherby PegasusComment: This is the only image in the challenge that I donât feel I have seen before. It shows creativity and lateral thinking. It offers a perspective of the world filled with emotion and devoid of complication. It fits its title with superb craft and is well executed too. |

Fields of greenby zardozComment: Thank you again for your comments Talj. I see what you mean about lack of focal point. It is interesting what you have to say about shooting it in landscape format. I was going for an impression of the landscape under a big sky and decided to experiment with portrait format landscapes. I guess it just doesnât work because, as you say, the composition simply lacks interest and focus. |

Here comes the sun.by zardozComment: Originally posted by talj: Lovely leading lines, i feel this shot would again be better as a landscape to allow you to get more of the hills in. Can I ask why you "Shot blind with the camera held high above my head"? |
I was drawn to the texture and colours of the shoreline and wanted to give the feeling of looking down at it. But I couldnât seem to get that view from a normal standing point. So I simply held the camera as high as I could, pointing well down and trusted to luck and the cameras review function :-) |

Yellow Lilyby taljComment: Certainly an interesting composition. The simplicity appeals to me, as it does with your other flower pictures. I think of the three this one is the weakest but Iâm struggling to say why. I think perhaps it is the very light lower section of the flower that prevents my eye flowing with the curve. Perhaps if this part was toned down a little or even cropped off it would work better. The other thing is the fold near the top that touches the edge of the image, it seems to drag my eye from the frame.
Once again your use of light is superb.

Simple Roseby taljComment: A beautiful image, you have brought out the textures particularly well. The lighting is quite superb. I like the simplicity of your flower images, they are a refreshing change. It is the ânegative spaceâ that make this image for me, without it it would be just another, all be it very good, flower picture. Message edited by author 2006-09-26 08:05:52. |

Untitled Vby zardozComment: Thank you for the comment Rafwhett. An interesting question and I am inclined to agree with your comments. I chose b&w simply because I wanted to experiment with and learn the different ways the conversion can be done. I have a few colourful landscapes in my portfolio already and wanted to add something a little different. I still have much to learn about b&w conversion. Itâs ironic realy because when I used to shoot film just about all I ever did was black and white. |

Distant Shoreby zardozComment: Thank you for your comment
I was trying to give the feeling of being in the water, not so much swimming as bobbing :-) But you have just given me an idea for next time!
