It looks like this coin has been used a lot. I like the DOF here. I also like the sharpness in the bottom portion of the photo because of the detail it reveals.

I actually like this image very much. I don't mind the shadows on the left side at all. On my calibrated monitor it actually has good detail and I think it makes the photo more interesting than just having even lighting on both sides. Background lighting looks good. I also don't like the finger on the chin, to distracting and doesn't look natural. Overall, I think the lighting (the reason you posted this I think) looks great.
