Congrats! I'm glad to see you ribbon. Even if that guy hadn't cheated, your pic was more deserving because his picture did not meet the challenge. There was no celebrational aspect to it. Whereas yours is dripping with celebration. Good job!

Great job in getting the cloud formations exactly the same as last month :D

Yeah, pretty clear. You gave in to temptation. Not possible for the clouds to be the same. Also, all the wrinkles in your shirt are exactly the same. Didn't have anything to do with the challenge, anyway.

Ok, now I'm still quite the novice at photography. But, it says that the ISO was 100 and the shutter speed was 1 second. How is an ISO of 100 fast enough to perfectly expose a bullet that is traveling at somewhere near 2,000 feet per second? Second, how is it that, on the left side of the screen, the bullet stayed in one spot long enough for a perfect exposure, whereas on the rest of the screen it was just a blur? It's a cool picture; but I don't think it's really a stopped-motion picture of a bullet in flight.

I think it's a great photo, but nothing about it showed a celebration of life to me.

St. Louis???!!! The City of Brotherly Love is Philadelphia.

If you had held up a cheese steak, I would have understood.

New Life For A New Life

Well, I learned a lot on this one, too -- mainly about paying attention to the background. In this case, however, there was little I could do about that -- except move the cigarette lighter -- because the baptism took place aboard the bridge of a ship -- so the background was what it was. The photo is not as focused as I would have liked; but there could be no re-takes because it was the real event; and once the water was poured, that was it. Some expressed surprise at my interpretation of the challenge. For me, the photo fit the challenge perfectly because baptism is, quite literally, a celebration of life. And, for those who believe in it, it is also the giving of a spiritual new life. The photo is not meant to preach -- I am not an evangelist and not even particularly religious. So the only critiques that bothered me were the criticisms I received via email from people who thought that, by displaying a photograph of a Christian religious rite I was preaching to them. Nonsense. Religious rites, of whatever religion, are anthropologically and sociologically interesting due to the insight they give into the human condition. I suspect the 1 and the 2s I received were from people who were offended by the subject matter rather than my inexpert photography skills. Finally, I still don't know how to use photoshop. I'll have to learn. Thank you to all of you who gave constructive critiques -- even negative ones help if they are constructive.

Immediately made me think of the Martha Stewart Christmas spoof with Eric Baldwin on Saturday Night Live where they talked about how much they loved each other's balls...
