Downward Spiralby

Hi Loretta, my thoughts on your Abstract submission:
Challenge
The shot fits the challenge, although you can see that the subject is a slinky. It's not terribly original as there were several slinky shots this week, but it's a fun subject and a good angle on it.
Composition
Your composition is great, centering the subject is appropriate here to emphisize (spelling...?) the form of the slinky. Having no ring evenly touching the frame also underlines that the spiral. Good job.
Lighting
Lighting must have been a paine in this setting, but you did a lovely job. The pink light gives the image more life, and it looks great.
Camera work
Good job on camera work. I would guess f/8 is the minimal aperture on the camera, giving the maximum dof for the shot. Maybe the focus point could have been a bit further away showing the bend in perfect focus?
Post processing
Good job here as well, I would think the original was a bit hard to deal with considering the subject. It doesn't look like it is processed alot, which is great. Background nicely darkened out.
Title and info
Title is good, plain and simple. Your info is superb, all basic info and the comment field is put to good use, good to see how you set up the shot and what you did in PS. Would love it if everybody filled these fields out like you did (I really appriciate good info on DPC for my own learning)
Overall (my opinion)
Nice shot, not terribly interesting at first but grows on you when you take a closer look. This could be a nice desktop photo. All your hard work produced a good looking shot you can be proud of. Keep up the good work.
Hope this helps, excuse my spelling (I'm icelandic)
