The Snow Is Too Cold!by FranziskaLangComment: This is a very eye-catching piece. Good focus and depth of field. Nicely cooridinated colors (cool greys and white. An awesome shot.
However; IMHO there is not a lot of detail to keep my eye for long. (Is this because of a long zoom???) There is not much in the feathers and of course snow is white. So where this piece does jump out and say "look at me", I personaly don't see much staying power.

Candles... and a roseby Faye PekasComment: Roses and Grapes came off much more powerfully in my opinion. The grapes kinda make the background a little noisy with the feel of the rest of the image. After seeing this one I would try the same setup (less grapes) and a tighter crop. Still a cool low light shot. (6 if I was voting and please see my comments on 'Roses and Grapes') |

Rose and Grapesby Faye PekasComment: HEY, now I REALLY like this one. It's interesting how some of the lines in the grapes and some of the lines in the rose match up so closely it makes the rose seem almost translucent. Did you plan this (it woulda been hard in the dark) or get lucky??? Nice complimentery hues (not sure if hue is the right term...still trying to relearn all this stuff myself) and textures. The glare around the flame is slightly distracting but not obnoxiously so. If I was scoring it (with no real topic involved) it would be 8 or 9. |

Come into the Real World...by nathaliedooComment: First of all it's a very striking image! It has a great eye catching impact with the child emerging from the tunnel into the 'real' world. It's definately a image that will make people stop and take another look.
However; the more I look at it the more I'm drawn to the background. The clouds and trees are a little too surreal for my taste. I think it may be because of the editing AND removal of color. IMHO leaving the color in (perhaps muted) would have given it a more realistic look.
On the other hand...If you WERE trying to make it a surreal image I think that you could have made a more dramatic statement by leaving the colors in and exagerating them.
Would really like to know where this is and what the original shot looked like!
Excellent job!
