quotes on pics? i just thought i'd try that out ... the quote displayed, but then the page displayed an 'the administrator has been notified of your request' comment and automatically redirected to the home page. that happened on two different pictures from previous challenges.

i'm using IE6.0

I don't know if this belongs in Bugs or Suggestions, but...

When I review the votes I've given (using the handy-dandy but not so well marked 'next' & 'previous' buttons) and I decide to change a vote, I'm sent to My Entry. I think this is because it is the only remaining entry I haven't voted on. I think it would be better if this returned me to the thumbnail page or somewhere like that. I think it's just a case of somehow marking My Entry as having been voted on.

Thanks again for all the great work! The site is everything I expected and more!

EDIT : It seems the forward button will always goes to My Entry once everything has been voted on. Is this 'as it should be'?

When using the Quote button to reply to a forum thread I have tried to edit the message I am quoting to delete some of it.

I do leave the bit at the start with the [quote=username] stuff or whatever it says but editing the message itself seems to screw it for me and the post ends up just displaying the quote command as text.

What am I doing wrong?

IGNORE THIS
figured it out
hadn't noticed the [ / quote] so I was deleting it out!
DUH!

Maybe it's just me, but I could have swore there were only 245 entries for the Blue Challenge. Why then (if indeed I haven't lost my mind) does the front page say 255 entries?

Poll results for second poll (uses voting...) appear to be reversed.

Minor problem.
I hope this is a new problem and I'm not repeating.
My comments counter is wrong.
It says 7 and I really have 8.
You'd think with 200+votes there would be more ...?
It's okay not my best work.

When you mouse-over the menu categories, the sub-menu pops up really fast. However, when you move the mouse away, it seems to take quite a long time for those menu items to disappear so that it's possible to click on something underneath...is it possible to make them retract faster?

Okay, the stuff I've noticed:

If a page is refreshed, the thumbnails are re-randomized each time. This is really a problem when, say all of your "5" votes span more than one page and you refresh a page for whatever reason. Pictures on the existing page move to another page and vice versa. If you move back and forth between two pages of thumbnails, the thumbnails also move back and forth--randomly. Suggestion--use a common seed value for the randomization of each user, such as a unique user id number (or just pick a random seed number for each user--whatever). Use this seed value to intialize the rng for a particular user, and generate the picture order in an invariant manner for each user. That way their page of thumbnails will be consistent.

The thumbnails that are voted on are grouped under the user's rating for the pictures. There is a selectable "pictures per row" count in the preferences. When thumbnails are displayed within the user's ratings groups, the column counter that controls the pictures per row displayed is not reset when the ratings group is changed. The column counter should be reset whenever the ratings group changes. If this is not done then the first row of a subsequent ratings group will contain just enough thumbnails to complete the last row of thumbnails--which has nothing to do with the current row.

Also, I do miss the votes/remaining count that used to appear on the individual voting pages as I work through the initial voting stage. I like to know how many pictures I have "voted on/have left." It's a nice thing to know.

Thanks for your consideration.

I was born in 1951 and my profile shows 32 years old.

Perhaps it has parsed your submissions and applied a proprietary algorithm to determine your emotional age.

I see that under My Stats | Submissions that it shows 8 comments for my current submission. Upon looking at my comments I have discovered that I have 9 comments.

UpdateThis may be because I was on the site when the comment came in. I'm not sure. When I came back to the site this time (over an hour later) the count was correct.

Fixed this one. Thanks, Franziska.

Mine is 2 off.

edit: could be related, two of the comments show that they were posted 12/31/1969

If a thread is missing the POST and QUOTE buttons, does that mean it has been locked?

I received a new comment on my blue photo, unfortunately the date says 1969.

In the FAQ, at the "What are the rules for submitting/editing photographs?" section, the link for the challenge rules is actually pointing to the top of the FAQ.

I was tempted to photograph myself following the endless circle, and submit it to the Motion challenge titled: "Perpetual Motion"

I think this bug still has life. I was just asked why I've posted my age incorrectly......I'm 32 year old? Not quite accurate....I entered my birthday again (1959), but my profile page still shows incorrect age.....

Yea, I still need to fix profile where it displays your age. It doesn't work if you were born before 1970. I'll have a fix soon.
