"What is a Triptych?
A triptych is a picture in 3 parts. Originally it referred to tri part pictures in hinged frames that were placed on thealters of churches to provide educational and spiritual benefits at the mass. Since it was hinged in two places it could be folded up and put away between services or it could be transported along with the priest as he moved between churches a religious circuit rider.
Today, a triptych is just any picture in three parts, which may be in one or three frames. The three parts may be from a single picture split in three sections, for three related pictures that are designed to be shown together, or three seemingly unrelated pictures that have been put together at the decision of the artist."
Sounds fun! I hope we get a lot of diversity!

| This one DOES sound fun! I'm still not completely clear on the concept but I'm sure I'll figure it out. No idea what the subject will be yet. Can't wait to see the results of this challenge!! |

| I found some nice examples of a triptych on pbase. Do a search on the word to see what comes up as an example. |

Hi Gordon, Yes, I did note that it was your image and I was going to include a link to it in my previous post, but decided that it might not have been appropriate for me to do that in the end.
So, I am very pleased to see that you included the link. It is a great image and an excellent representation of one approach to a triptych. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Michael

| This is going to be a neat challege for me, getting Idea's in my little head now. Now, How do I get three picture's into one? I have a trail jasc software, and 602 pro pc suite 200, can I do it with these? don't see how now, if not how? |

By "jasc software" do you mean Paintshop Pro? PSP can do it no problem. You need to combine the 3 photos into one photo by using "Layers". Layers are basically seperate pictures that are stacked on top of each other that make up the entire image. Then you can minipulate each layer, move them around add effects to each one, position the images differently, etc., and then combine them together to make the final image. A good anology would be layers are like several pieces of glass, each with a different image, stacked on top of each other... then when you look down through the stack of glass layers you see all of the images at one time (as one image). Same concept except the layers are orgainized by the software instead of on glass. When you are happy with the way the image looks with each of the layers, you then "flatten" the layers which makes one layer that's combined from all of them, and you save it as .jpg.
It may be kind of difficult to make a nice image if you have no idea what they are, but half the fun is experimenting and learning what you can do with them so you are more ready for the next challenge.
I'm certainly no expert, so I'm sure others will have better comments to help you.

Nah, I gotta another idea.
For paint shop users -- I did this by setting my canvas very large (not sure of the exact numbers)then, like Chris said, use layers to place each of the pictures in their places. Then I cropped and added a frame. It is pretty simple,if your design is simple, but if you want something more complicated, I don't know how.

| o.k still very confused here but will go play with some old picture's, I will be back I'm sure, yes it is paintshop pro 7, but it is 30 day trail, and they don't give you all their programs on it. thanks guys |
