thank you. that was a beautiful interview. I really liked it when he was asked about the link between cancer and obesity and he countered with wondering about the effects also of stress, dieting and gorging and so forth. And then he said he was not a scientist, that he didn't know. That he didn't want to know. |

I also liked that Science Friday gave a tribute. I didn't catch it, but I caught the beginning of science Friday on the way out to some errands, and they mentioned that they were doing something at the end of the hour. Seemed fitting. |

I've never been a science fiction fan, but I loved Star Trek. But I've been thinking that if it weren't for Spock, I'd probably never have watched it either. |

I once walked past him on the street in Vancouver when he was shooting a made-for-TV movie. Didn't even recognize him as I was en route to a portfolio viewing, but did wonder why this lanky older guy standing outside a production trailer executed a smoothly timed turn so I wouldn't quite see his face as I approached. Only later when I saw a copy of the local film mag did I realize who it was.
And he was my fave Star Trek character. Sad to hear of his passing :-( |

"We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most....human."
