I can start the death toll for you with quantity one grasshopper. I stuck him in the fridge to slow him up a little (only intended to leave him for 15 seconds or so) got distracted and pulled out a hopsicle 2 hours later! Needless to say he got piffed over the fence into the neighbours garden :) |

I've made a vow to quit procrastinating, and one of these days I'll get around to doing just that, eventually.

Ellen Degeneres said it best: "Procrastination is Nature's way of telling us to slow down, and enjoy life. So, people - all together now 'Procrastinate now! Don't put it off!' "
kava': Here's another "would be" vote for your caterpillar shot! Bravo! You should be very proud of it! As mag says "it rocks"! I hope you put it up on dpcprints!

Its a chrysalis: The pupa state of certain insects, esp. of butterflies, from which the perfect insect emerges.
If it emerges while I'm at work, I'll try to record the event. Geeze, does it make me a professional photographer if I take the photos at work while I'm getting paid? 8-) Don't tell my boss, please!
Karen, I do happen to have a print ready version, I'll try to upload this evening. Thanks everybody for the feedback! Makes me feel a little better while watching my actual entry's score plummet.

Awesome! The 'better' one will probably be a winner. Now I have to look at all those entries to try and find it! 8-)

The chrysalis of the Monarch has lots of gold dots on it, I'd love a chance to find one to photograph. |

You guys make me work way too hard. You throw out better pictures than I ever get. I worked on this one but it just wasn't quality enough so I passed on it and entered something even more cliche.

The challenge was not to have flowers as the main focus. I think this would have been highly rated - it's clear, crisp and a quite amazing critter. Very good. |
This is the one I didn't enter as I was worried about the FLO PO (flower police)
Instead I entered one with a solitary flower, slightly OOF as the MAIN SUBJECT was NOT a flower and IN FOCUS.
Here is a comment I received today...
My score dropped accordingly.

I would have given this a 9 or 10. Technicals are flawless, great composition, and I think the flowers add to the image, but are not the main subject.

I just wanted to remind the voters to LEARN TO READ....
I got a comment stating that while my pic was a 9, it was being dropped to a 4 because there was a flower present.
Please people, read the challenges properly. It says the flower can't be the MAIN subject.

I know my entry doesn't deserve a 9, Terry, but I, too, received a sarcastic comment with a score of 1 because flowers appear in the shot. Given the fluctuations people are reporting in their score averages, I suspect more than one person may have misread the challenge, and are scoring accordingly. Shame. |
