No it's not just you. Many of the entries are not personification at all. It looks like many people have the wrong idea of what personification is. But also the description given by DP Challenge of what personification is, is not entirely accurate.

No, not just you. I viewed them all once now. Not very many of them are 'personification' or even close. But that is just my opinion. Not sure if I will vote. I figure it is better to stay away than score low. |

I went through and voted on every photo as well - a lot to me werent at ALL personification. I tend to average around a 5.0 in all my votes and this one was in the mid 4's

Not sure what challenge you were voting on, but I did a quick thumbs look and almost all entries sure seemed to meet the general concept of personification (giving inanimate objects personality). |

Interesting thread - I have to say, personification means something different to me than (a part of) the brief indicated. I would have said that we should be producing images of objects which personify things like anger or love etc (and indeed some people have done this). I then looked back at the previous personification challenge and saw that it had been interpreted as something much closer to anthropomorphism.
Following on from that, I decided to shoot something that resembled human form rather than something which depicted a human characteristic.
In my scoring, I have tried to embrace all interpretations. |

I was going to enter this shot which I had specially created for the challenge and was inspired by the cabbage shot below but then I read up what personification actually was and discovered that this is not personification but anthropomorphism.

But first I tried to copy this creation:
An image I found on the internet which I liked so much I rushed off to buy a cabbage and tried to carve it as on the photo. I made a total mess and that evening my wife made cabbage soup for me...Ughhhhhh

I'm stoked at the moment, 5.8 after 15 votes has now risen to 6.7+, looking like I'm a chance to beat my best score (6.6514) if this keeps up!
