 I got this shot near the Liwa Oasis, which is in the UAE near the border of Saudi Arabia. It was 118 degrees that day, and it's about a 3 hour drive into the middle of nowhere, but they're the most beautiful dunes in the country. I had about a 30 minute window with the light to get the really nice shadows on the ripples, and luckily I arrived just in time to get some good shots.

Holy cow... I would have never guessed that this would have done so well! I also never even thought about getting a score of 8+!! I'm guessing this is going to be my high score pretty much forever...

Just wonderful. I love sand and shadow images and Cape Cod can be a pretty cool place to take them at certain times of year, but the sheer scale of this and the sweeping wind swept lines is in another class altogether. Congrats on the wonderful score and the well deserved blue ribbon.

This one really belongs in a galley, or at least in DPC Prints.

It would be a shame, if it was only ever an 800 pixel screen image. I enjoy just sitting and looking at this.

When I think of Ansel I think of localized high contrast, crispness, and an extensive tonal range, and this nails it on all fronts. It's a stunning photo in its own right, and ideal for this challenge. Well done.

A classic beauty - hard to beat the great lines and shadow play of dunes like these. Maybe a bit over-sharpened for my taste but terrific anyway. One of my top 10.

This really looks like an AA. Very interesting detail and wonderful tones. Good job on the sky, too. Some of the shadow detail in the deepest part of the dune shadow is lost, but it adds to the mood and interest. Well done! Should be a ribbon contender. 10

I am mad for this. Perfect wide angle focus and depth of shadows and light. ( I would have cropped that that wisp of a cloud, but it's hardly worth mentioning. )
